I'm getting pretty silly these days with the post titles. If this one has gone over your head and out the coop the context can be found here (rated, hmmm... mature-ish, rating myself mildly immature-ish for linking, but damn funny!).
The peeps are here! Just about the cutest things you can imagine. They were only a day old when we picked them up at the feed supply store on Friday. Already they're a touch less cute than just yesterday. They're losing that downy fluff from their wings. I'm going through a very clucky phase though. I look into the fabulous digs that Craig whipped up for them and all I can see are about eighteen fluffy little Kales peeping around. All baby animals remind me of Kale as a newborn now.
We requested the mixed gender option but Craig, after close inspecting of various chick bits, has a sneaking suspicion we only have one lady amongst all these little peckers, I mean cockerels. I'll just stop now.
So that's a bummer because we were hoping to save some as layers, one as a fertilizer/alarm clock and the rest as Sunday specials. I've heard about this not so random sex allocating happen before (throw in Tiger Woods joke here - and I'll back away from all the lame chicken puns).
