When we first moved in I was pretty much on cloud nine in case you couldn't tell from the posts written in that era. All our friends would ask us, "how are you liking the new house" and I would gush "love love love it - but we don't have book shelves so all the book boxes in my office are driving me a bit nutsos". Finally Craig piped up (no pun intended) that I sounded pretty ungrateful whenever I said that. So, I felt bad and want to use this opportunity to tell the world that I'm so grateful for this house and this man that lies on top of its concrete foundations. Oh no, baby, I'm grateful and am even more grateful that those F*%$#'n boxes are out of my office finally because we got ourselves a book shelf from the antique store I'm frequenting these days.
I got the idea to arrange the books by colour from the book Flea Market Style by Emily Chalmers. I love how it looks but the only drawback is I have to wait for a moment like this - when Craig's in the shower - to seek out the book because that was another lovely little conversation we had when I suggested we not place the books according to subject like we always have done so in the past.
But look how much prettier/funner it is to look at. Imagine you come over for a Cranium game night. You walk to the book shelf and you scan. Your eyes land on all our interests at the same time. Cool! Sure it took me eight minutes to find this particular felting book I needed yesterday during PMT (precious mommy time) but they were eight minutes of looking into the nooks and crannies of our little family's morphing obssessions over the years. I'm pretty pleased with it. That and I got me some floor space back in my office.
You can learn alot about people from there bookshelves, no? Showed you mine, show me yours?
