You won't believe our luck. We were introduced to a super secret swimming hole right around the corner from our home. I won't give out to much details lest the word gets out but, ack! what luck!
We went over to fetch a bag of basil from our new neighbors after they invited us to do such things when he introduced us to the mini-lagoon totally hidden over a lump in a field. He said to come by anytime, and that we'll see them there when it's really hot. Such a cute little pond that is the perfect Edie size, is magnificently landscaped with native flowers, sprinkled with toe-curious koi and there's even a concrete picnic table by the shore.
So today was the first stinking hot day since that ka-ching-type invite to come back so we spent our hours before supper checking it out. It was so peaceful there; just the three of us and a friendly kitty. Edie was blissed out on her donut the whole time hollering "I LOVE this place" every once in a while. Kale was taking it in from the shade of our umbrella and my boob. He needs his dad I think to warm him back up to the concept of being dunked in the water equaling fun. I was thinking in that moment about my memories of summer days cooling off to the soundtrack of hundreds of kids screaming simultaneously, the scent of chlorinated and coconut sunblocked skin and the sickly yet refreshing sweet taste of banana popsicles. Totally a world away but just as magical. Same, same but different, different, ya know? (I add in the extra 'different' just to drive Craig crazy because I love him like that.)
