If I would have been making myself a dress this week I would have called it the Flu-zee. Man, I was down for the count! It all started with our Friday night tradition of chicken wings at our local restaurant (organic wings washed down with hemp beer - oh yeah, we're in the Koots) and I asked them to make them hot, but not too hot (I reminded them the code on the till is "Hot for Kathy") but they came out searing hot and I ate them anyway. Right before bed. Smart... I woke up Saturday morning with what felt like a burning blister in my stomach. I thought it was the wings but by Sunday the blister was moving all around my abdomen like an alien life force and I was lethargic and shaky. I had the flu. Then sore throat and cold.
So today I feel somewhat awesome in comparison and am loving the contrast of health and sickness. Much to be grateful for. The kids got sick too but mostly with colds. I'm just thankful this may pass before my mom's visit this weekend. So there's the dress for the Kids Clothes challenge. I had more on my wish list but it was just not meant to be. That's okay. The fun part for me and Edie of picking patterns from Japanese pattern books (this one, again, is from Girly Girl, pattern "H") is the photoshoot. We always try to come up with weird props and spaced out facial expressions to echo the ones in the books. Unfortunately, Edie can't keep a space face for very long anymore. Thanks a lot, Media Diet. Anyone know Japanese for "good times"?
