Rest Lazured

Ediesnewroom5

Feels like we haven't seen the sun here for a while so when it poked out for a few minutes yesterday so it was like a siren went off in the house and all nesting frenzy stopped and Mama was screaming "Okay! Camera's coming out! Let's pick up all the crap off the floor, people! Edie, out of your jammies let's get some pictures for the blog and head outside!!".

I was hoping to be able to capture the amazing walls this special angel known as Sat Kaur blessed our home with (again). Here she is in action sprinkling her fairie dust:

Satkaur

Sigh. I miss her. But it's tricky to do the walls justice for this photo session was too rushed and our beds were hastily if at all made, I was running around so things are blury, the new rooms are pretty tiny so it was tricky to capture things from the right angle. But if you could imagine I'm so very happy with the outcome. I'm totally in love with Sat Kaur's work and want to nestle into it forever and ever.

Ediesnewroom4

I felt for a while that my body was waiting for the painting of these rooms to be finished before the labour games begin but we have since moved our beds down here about a week and half ago and I guess my body/baby is waiting for something else. Perhaps for us to all get over this nasty cough (it's hit Craig particularly hard).

Ediesnewroom2

Check out the stainglass! This went up too right after the lazure job. This will ensure quiet and dark (other than a rainbow reflection on the wall Edie loves) as opposed to an open triangle hole in the wall. Gavin the Glassman did this one (again!). Love our Happy House team!

Masterroom

The bed in the master bedroom was a mess so that omitted capturing that little corner of the room. We have a king and it juuuussst squishes into position there. Surprisingly comfy in fact though a little tricky to navigate into with my giant belly.

Masterroom2

Our room was done up in blues and pinks and mmmmmm. Love it. Sat Kaur was getting the message that the ceiling had to come down over the bed so I dyed some silk scarves in pinks and blues and layered them like a canopy over our fluffy nest and apparently the two colours together are good for baby to stare up at for it mimicks the colour of the placenta. Mmmmm... can't wait to get my hands on some of that placenta!

Craig's Nest

Solar Electric (8)

The sun is shining, the solar panels are up and now the internet just needs to get connected and Craig will be off to work each morning. I'll miss the big lug. But he's been working so hard on this all summer and the results are so beautiful I'm so happy for him.

Office View (1) small

Just about ready to move into. Today in fact. I'm so happy for me too though. We get to move into what is presently his office as a bedroom to house the big bed. When I was pregnant with Edie my body was waiting until we got this Ikea area rug for her "room" (which she never slept in nor had I intention for her too - just a crazy nesting criteria my psyche settled into to) and with Drippy it's getting what was formerly known as Dada's office nesty comfy with our king sized bed squished in.

Office View (2) small

What a view he's got. Lucky guy. I can still spy on him from the house though when it's dark ~ mwah-ha-ha. So, truthfully I'm kind of really bummed out. I broke my computer. It's effecting my sleep. I wake up at five all perturbed about it and perturbed about the fact I'm perturbed about it. And after today Craig's computer, that I'm currently on, will be in its sweet new home across the field. Too far for me to stray to these days. So that puts a damper on my nesting plans just because I have to go into town tomorrow to see if I can get it repaired. What a drag! Takes up the whole day, know what I mean? This just makes me realize how much I love posting on here. Kind of like my journaling vent because I'm incapable of keeping a hard copy one. I've tried so many times. I have a nice collection on my laptop of photos I wanted to share of some Autumn-y crafty projects me and Edie have been playing with but... oh well. It's the Universe teaching me to be still.

Fishing (12)

Craig took Edie fishing. She loved it and they even brought a trout home for supper - thanks to Adrian for catching and sharing. So yummy. So, yesterday morning I was computerless and I tried to read with my morning breve but that made my hands go numbs. I tried finishing the yarn I'm spinning for my doula but my fingers got useless. Seems like they don't mind typing so much. Weird. But it was kind of funny yesterday morning. I got up super early to do some work online but I couldn't hop on Craig's computer because it was busy trying to resuscitate mine and all I could do was sit in front of the fire and stare. So, hopefully not to long until I could post again. Keep your fingers crossed.  I would, but, ow. Edie beckons. Hopefully I'll be back sooner than later!

Vote for a Clean Nest

Chiffon

I've been on such a cleaning/setting up frenzy my picture taking has somewhat been lacking these days. Today, though, we're taking the time to go out and vote. Here's a handy, nifty site to plunk in your postal code and find the most strategic way to deter the Harper government to seize a majority stance: www.voteforenviroment.ca

Nothing like leaving important links for the last minute, eh?  Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. We were blessed to have the loveliest orphan type dinner at some friends' house. We sat at a table of 16 beautiful, interesting souls and ate really comforting. Like mom made it our something. But instead we all did. But the couple hosting are cooks at the restaurant here in booming downtown Winlove so, they make mean, yet loving, stuffing, venison, gravy, squash, pie and on and on. Why, oh why did I not bring my camera? The food and company were beautiful and one friend was decked out in a five dollar suit.

Fartsy

There's alot of changes going on around here. I'll get some shots one of these moments for all the projects are pretty beautiful, but some of these aren't quite possible to capture on film (megabytes?). Edie's room is now all pinked up and that was a glorious experience in itself (seriously, almost spiritual for me) really setting the nesting tone to an almost holy vibe. Now I'm trying to manifest some curtains to go perfectly with the lazured walls. That's the deal with the dyed chiffon up top. I dyed some silk chiffon in shades of pinks, orange and yellow then nuno felted a panel. Safe to say, did not work out. Bummer. Time's a ticking. Another nesting project that didn't quite pan out is the mission I'm on to find a dresser for Drippy's clothing to place in the bathroom. I found a budget one a SHARE (like Salvation Army) but it's so huge and ominous I just want to go away and pretend it never happened. I have to get on damage control today now that the holidays are over.

We've also been folding baby clothes. So cute. Edie holds an outfit up and says "awwwww! So cute!!". Like every. single. one. Munchkin. Her excitement about meeting Drippy Head is really inspiring and adding a different dimension to this pregnancy experience. Love it.

Nekid

And Craig. Oh, Craig. This is one busy, busy man. His top secret project is a cabin that he will work out of freeing up his office in the house to nest our new family bed. Nice and close to the bathroom. With a door. And walls. But the time crunch is getting to him for we can't really shuffle rooms around until he gets his space up and running and there's still a stuff to do. For now he refuses to put on clothes until Drippy puts on his/her first outfit and he pitched a tent out back he claims he will now use as his office space and does nothing all day but walk around with his pail, he calls his laptop, and collects "information". We're keeping an eye on him.

BFF (Blog Friend Forever) and BMF (Best Mum Forever)

IMG_0835

Look what my best BFF came all the way from Victoria with last week. Her husband Marty painted the Quack House, an early Christmas present from Craig's dad (shhhh, we weren't suppose to open it yet I don't think but how could anyone resist), and they swung by the valley to personally drop it off.

Quackhouse

I believe this is the photo he based his painting on. We use to drool all over his paintings that were displayed in our favorite coffee shop in Calgary and always joked we should get him to paint the house that we lived in at the time to comemerate where Edie was born (because, you know it's going to be a famous landmark one day) but this house is waaaaaaay more photogenic. Or is that paintagenic?

Painting

The artist versus the engineer. Funny how our paths crossed with this really sweet couple. I met Dana at the knit circle I joined when I first started knitting when Edie was just wee and we became friends. And then Craig came by one night, and I think Marty was there and we realized that Craig and Marty use to race bikes together once upon a time. Then we all moved to BC at the same time. Them to Victoria though. We trying to convince them to come out here though.

Bff

Here's my BFF and my new drumcarder, Jaws. Whole other post on him later. Dana and Marty were both such dream guests during their stay here. Marty helped Craig out with Project Firewood, my mom was here too so dish doing, yogurt container organizing and meal making were pretty much off my plate for the last ten days and with Dana around, sad attempts at taking self portraits for the blog were scratched off the list too. Only another craft blogger can understand how helpful that was.

Edienmumsy

Edie and Grandma. So wonderful to have her around and see how beautifully these two funny ladies connect. I thank her for all her help around the house and general support. And apple pie with the apples from our trees. That was yum.

Strawberry Feels 4 Evah

Strawberrygirl

Have I mentioned our neighbour's an organic strawberry farmer? Neighbours can come over and pick at the end of the season. Which is awesome because all summer long Edie's been Strawberry shortcake and I've been Blueberry Muffin so we got to eat her all week long.

Strawberryshot

One of these days when I can stop obsessing about spinning and dying I'll get around to making strawberry jam again. Until then, I started to list in my shop some kettle dyed rovings and see how that goes. It's probably one of my favourite things to do. Little dollop of this, little dollop of that and there we have, uh, Spacecicle!

Drippy, Edie and Me in a Tipi (and Dada too!)

Tipi Camp 08 (13)

It was that time of year again. The Family Yoga Retreat at tipi camp. You guys should come next year! The kids love it. We opted out of the tipi accomodations and stayed in our three man tent instead. Next year we'll have to upgrade to a tipi to fit our multiplying selves and various knitted and knitting items.

Tipi Camp 08 (17)

It's a nice opportunity to lay off the meal making and dish washing routine and just settle into just being with the family and other families and look forward to some yoga-ing if you're so inclined. The meals, like last year, were so incredibly nourishing, tasty and seamlessly flowing from one snack to another.

Tipi Camp 08 (51)

All about the food these days. That and lounging around all sloth-like. And getting a little massage in a little tipi. Thankfully, next year there's plans to offer a stay put a little longer option that I think we need to take them up on. I was just getting into it and then; okay, bye now!

Tipi Camp 08 (33)

Check out where all the yoga was happening! I heard Craig and Edie talking when he was putting her to sleep and he asked her what her favorite part of yoga camp was. She said the kid's yoga.

Tipi Camp 08 (48)

Look at my little downward dogger! Itty Bitty Edie Yogini!

Summer Fun and Summer Spun

Summerhouse

Here's the Quack House in all its summer glory. Lots of action going on here these days including putting up deer fencing around 3 acres of our flat spot so we can grow veggies, flowers and animals with a little more ease next year.

Canoe

One of the purchases we made with the money we made from pimping out the Horniman is a canoe. You can see the back of Edie's pink head but you don't see that she fell fast asleep quickly into the ride. Felt like a scene from Weekend at Bernie's ...

Sprinkler Jumping (1)

... and some nekid sprinkler jumping while Cuzin' Jim Bob played the jug.

Electric

And the summer spun. This one's called Electric Mermaid. I hand dyed the merino roving in mermaid colours and added some leftover bits of princess crowns from this little princess's birthday.

Litebrite

And Lite Brite. Another score from Loop's Spontaneous Batt club. These babies just keep coming and coming! I'm going to put these two and some more up on my shop over the weekend. Have a good one!

Here Lama, lama, alpacas, lama...

Lammas

My friend Lisa has a really idyllic home here (really, who doesn't though? Not to be cheeky) but super enhanced with sheep, alpacas, lama, horse and chicken (though the chicken comes complete with chicken shit on the porch that both Edie and I were initiated with healthy toe-full dosees). I took a load full off of these guys' shoulders. Now if only they could come a bit closer for a photo op for my blog. So here I was like a crazy lady calling out "Llama, llama, llama!" with various whoops and alpaca pellet impersonations.

Horsey

No, no, not you. You're awfully cute and all but not exactly spinable. I want your Flock of Seagull lokcing buddies over there. So, I get back in the car, and everytime I do so, they come a little bit closer. Of course they wait until I have Edie fully buckled into her car seat to inch closer and then she wants to come out whenever I get out. So after three or four times of this dance I'm able to get these shots of Lucy, Tinkerbell and Ewok:

Alpacas2

Brown alpaca

Bet you can't guess which one's Ewok! About three pounds of these critters followed me home and will be spun up into further lusciousness. And check out this little home away from home.

Playhouse

Craig is putting the finishing touches on Edie's kick ass Rapunzel tower and slide he built with milled fir from our forest but this little house was so sweet. Complete with front and back porch and kid hammock for siestas. Perhaps a little munchkin suburbia in our backyard?

Spinning Clouds

Clouds (1)
Lots of spinning going around here. Even the clouds are in vortexing action. Lots of creating happening in general. Craig got a new camera and is happily playing around with it. He's also started construction this week on his uber cool office building. He's dealing with the cement truck as I type.

Spinner
Me? Oh, I'm just creating one meal after another and, oh yeah, a whole other human being to throw into the mix. Craig caught me, with his new toy, in my favourite spinning spot around the house at my favourite time; right after my latte and right before Edie wakes up. Edie's busy spinning up new cuteness everyday by the way.

Somewhere
Something my wheel spit out this week. A rainbow love child between Loop and Zen String. This is in my shop now that I'm slowly bringing back up to stock now that spinning doesn't make me want to throw up anymore.

Somewhere3small
Yes, this last photo's the ultimate "does spinning still make you want to vomit?" test. Nope. All better now.

Let the Sun Shine In

Gavin

Look what Gavin the glass man made for us! Craig works from home and we have these huge triangle cutouts above both our office doors that allow every little peep from all corners of the house be heard. Edie waking up in a crunchy mood plus Craig in a conference call made for some stinky feng shui.

Sun2

Up it goes into the big triangle shaped orifice. There is also a layer of soundproofing glass in front of it for extra muff factor.

Sun3

And there it is. This is the view from Craig's desk. The light shines through from this vantage point. This room will eventually be our bedroom once his office "building" is built in the garden area. It'll be nice to wake up to this glowy-ness. Up next is a water or moon scape for my space. Gavin's got his thinking cap on now. Poor guy had to contend with all my ideas being hucked at him- I know, have a little fairy sitting on a rock looking kind a bored and frog staring at her inquisitively and at the same time the moon's reflected off of her wings and the frog's back and moon beam reflections converge back into the sky with little pebbles in the river smiling up to the heavens and....
