Here is Craig's Grandma's headstone. Creepy part is she's still alive and well. Black.

Nibs n Knitting

Img_3723

Colour de jour: bruin. My newest obssesion: nibs. Cocoa nibs to be exact. These chocolate concentrated beans are making their way all ground up into my morning lattes, my evening icecreams, my once-in-a-while smoothies. They also go nicely with the fibre I got for Craig's "Gotsta Fit Him" Sweater. Super Duper Bulky. I'll be taking this project with us on our trip out to the Valley. We're leaving at four so must go! I may post some auto post until the week's end but after that must leave you all until the 26th. Please come back and visit then! Please! My delicate ego hangs in the balance!

Have a happy brownie day.

Color Weak: White

I may be leaving tomorrow for a week an a half so some auto-posting may be called for. Not today though! I have a long awaited FO to announce: my Electra Vest!

Img_3711

Took me about six months of on again/off again plugging away at but it has finally completed itself. There is still a need to block some but it's not fitting as ill as I was starting to fear. I'll get a better pic of it in actual action once I get it blocked and have a proper bra on.

Img_3636

So with my absence this week I think I'll just post some pics keeping in theme with Little Bird's  and Port 2 Port's color assignment. Today being white, I took a couple of shots of of the Mananita my sweet Grandma crocheted for me all the way in Peru.

Universal Cushy-ness

Img_3455

Someone's getting a little nostalgic about leaving the city she and her husband pretty much grew up in. This special someone has to be careful what she asks the Universe lately cause it's been answering in the strangest of ways. Someone's talking in third person today as you can see.

Someone said to the Universe yesterday, "Universe," she sez, "I need a cute red top to go with all my cute bottoms you've been presenting me with." Et, voila.

Then she sez, I'm so sad bout leaving the big city. Not because Bob the landscaper sprays Killex herbacide all over the yard where her loin fruit likes to frolick and the noises out her bedroom window constantly reek of road rage, but because she's so going to terribly miss her Knit Club and favourite LYS. Then something really exciting happened but she can't talk about it quite yet but she'll keep you posted as things progress a bit further.

Oh yeah, she finished another little felted bowl that has yet to be felted.

Someone has to go now and remember to trust in the wisdom of the Universe.

Loooong Weekend

Walk_downtown_2979

I'll be taking an extra long weekend break from blogging to get my act together. I have to get ready for the Lilac Festival the following weekend, Edie's got her big music recital this weekend and I have to get organized for packing for the big move. I've never moved out of province before as a grown-up. Kind of scary.

Once I'm moved and settled I'm looking forward to participating in some fun-looking swaps out there. There's an Apron Swap that's forming and I missed out on hangtag swap that could have been some goodtimes (plus this girl's blog is super groovy). See how I've been procrastinating?

SO I will be back after the May long weekend (Tuesday). Ciao for now!

Cinco Cosas

Me be Me-Me'd!!! Five things sent over from that Curious Bird:

Img_2807

Five minutes to yourself: how would you spend them, ideally?
Doing what I'm doing right now probably; cram in the most caffeine possible from my Kitty cup while either reading my favorite blogs or knitting.

Img_1071
Five bucks to spend right now; how would you spend it?

A Caffe Beano latte and one of their Pan au Chocolates from this French baker guy (pronounced "Ghee") in town. (I might be short some change but I'll bring Edie with me for some cute enhancement).

Img_2953_1Five items in your house you could part with, right now, that you hadn't thought of already?
Our crazy scary loud washing machine, a tv baby monitor my mom gave me after I told her I don't want to use those things, my hating-life-use-to-be-white Ikea couch, this piece of plywood Craig placed on top of the tv for extra space for his laptop (we've talked about this), and I wouldn't cry to see our futon go (I'm ready for a regular bed now)

Five items you absolutely, positively could never part with in your house?
Miss Kitty! of course, my laptop, my wedding album, my cruiser "Little Prozac" and my husband's journals he's kept since his University days (I still like to secretly pour through them once in a while to see how he's morphed through the years into my perfect mate)

Edie_and_dana Five words you love?

mesmerize, effervescent, prolific, ponpon, cockballs (ala Dana B.)

Thanks Leya, that was fun, and good timing. I was lying in bed going "crap!, nothing to share today"! I'll be passing this mesmerizing ponpon on to Robin, VegasandVenice , Angela and Sarah

To Do-Do

Before Craig left for his road trip he gave me a to do list. Of course this is on top of my self-imposed to do list. So when he comes back I was shocked to see that my mind drew a blank when he asked me what I did all week. I know I did something. Somethings even. So strange. So here I'd like to post some of my couple of to-do lists so hopefully making me more accountable to whoever:

  1. Pay off that damn student loan!! Just need to walk into the bank and write them a check already. Bah!
  2. Make one more bag for the sewalong
  3. Work on my soap labels in time for the Lilac Festival end of May
  4. De-clutter then donate to the Women in Need Society
  5. Knit Edie a belated Easter bonnet for my brother's just-announced-this-week-wedding this Friday
  6. Buy Edie some rubber booties for the Horniman. Craig can't stop muttering it's so muddy...
  7. Get my mom, now that she's back in town, to teach me how to use my serger. So many new babies popping up everywhere. It'll be faster to sew them up a gift instead of knitting me thinks.
  8. Sell some belongings on EBay or Craigslist - more decluttering
  9. Donate excess books to library - more decluttering
  10. Plant some wildflowers in the backyard now that the tubs have been shipped to the Ranch and there's some ugly patches that can be beauty-ed up some.

Okay. Ten's enough for now. On a side note, guess who took her first unassisted, honest-to-goodness steps on her own last night. She did!

Img_0233

Of course, it made me cry which is crazy because she's already over 17 months. But still, she's just a baby! I love you, my Monkey!

Sweet Tweet

Img_3033

Well, well, well, what have we here. Let's have a little looky, looky:

Img_3040

Oh! Good mornin' mate! Isn't this just the bee's knees? I love it!! This is a beautiful collage concoction of Jackie's from Littlest Flower. All the way from Australia. I think the reason I'm so drawn to it is because it reminds me of this corner of the Horniman Ranch:

April_at_horniman_0018
Very similar, no? There's always swallows zooming in and out of the little house Craig built for them. The collage literally sings to me. I'm so pleased. Thank you for your beautiful work, Jackie!
