Water Baby

Img_4087

Edie's not much of a water baby... yet!

Img_4086

Slowly we're going to get in there and she's going to like it!

Img_4081

Sweet little pixie. We've been heading to the beach everyday around 4:20 after Craig's work to seek some relief from the heat and get the munchkin use to the water. So cute her little protests. "No, no, no, no" all the time smiling. The "no no's" are floating away a little bit more each time we go.

This little beach is so special to us. A five minute drive from our place and where I spent a good chunk of my pregancy in. I would just waddle in and float like a mama hippo. So happy we can bring Edie here as a place to grow up in.

Don't mind my mammary glands and what not. This weekend has seen some cooling off in temperatures which is a nice change. Good timing too since we got all the paint smells finally out of the house. Now we're unpacking, taking in the community celebrations (there seems to be one every week!) and just enjoying the fact that we're finally living in the one place of the world we're so in love with.

I've got so much on my plate I must go. Long story short, unpacking, organizing plus lots of changes to my business that I must giddy-up on. Hint: it will buy me more time to craft! Yay!

Phun Phur

Img_4093

Boo! Meet Edie's new friend, Phun Phur. PP was sweetly given to Edie as a going bye-bye present from beautiful Natalia. Thanks Sweetie! I believe she said she's diving back into sewing these days and I have to say I'm so impressed with this artista's natural talents. She is so creatively gifted this one. Here's Phun Phur lounging on our hammock set up in our new front yard...

And strolling the gardens ...

And just simply taking in the mellow vibe of the area.

Me thinks he likes it here and I know the munchkin loves him. Thanks Nat!
Edie's napping (as per the title of this blog) and I should be unpacking my "nook". A task I'm soooooo excited about cuz it's so darn cute but I get on the computer and, as I'm sure you understand since you're reading someone's blog right now, one thing leads to another and time's flying away. So, signing off until Monday. Play safe and be kind.

The Way of Crochet

Img_4028

A quick post to share some crocheted good times with you. Still plugging away at the Bella Baby Dress. Hopefully this will done before she surpasses the 24 months suggested age! Such a fine yarn to be handling that Baby Cashmerino. Here we are last weekend taking in the lapping shores of Kootenay Lake before heading off for day two of Star Belly Jam music fest fun. Life is good. Must go to unpack and discard some more stuff. Bliss out.

From Here to There

Img_4002

It has been eleven days since the painful experience of moving from the home that Craig courted, married, knocked me up and stroked my hair while I gave birth in. Things were getting emotionally hairy that  day and now I know why moving is up there as one of the top life stressors. I don't deal with that type of stress very dainty-like. In the end I was knocking on neighbours' doors trying to find soft shoulders to cry on and finally landed on my neighbour May's front porch chair watching the labour pains of my belongings and memories being thrown into a truck by a bunch of Trailer Park Boys. The van has this giant "friendly guy" painted on smirking, tipping his hat saying "The Friendly Movers" like some stupid inside joke. The movers were so rude to me. I don't mean to be mean. Just venting. I actually lived in a trailer park briefly as a child. It was lovely. The people from what I can remember were lovely. I guess I'm referring to the tv show.

Anyway, so there I sat with the little Tangerine sleeping on my lap for three hours just watching my life's book turn a page to a new chapter. Then when Edie awoke all these beautiful angels landed unexpectedly at my front door, all at different times, to give goodbye hugs. I was so moved - no pun intended. Thanks Cheechum, Ashley and Natalia. So sweet and very helpful. But still, I was so happy to hit the road!

We safely arrive the next day and FINALLY!!! just now, eleven days later, we are hooked to satellite internet. This took a while and serendipitously Edie plunked down for a nap just as it got working so I was able to scurry upstairs to say a quick hi to you all and thank you for all the kind words in the last post. I'll resume my usual Monday thru Friday programming when possible so please stay tuned and thanks again for all your support and positive vibes. One final shot of the bathroom I left behind (no pun intended):

Pock, Pock, Chicken Pox!

Img_3977

Due to an infliction of chicken pox outbreak in our home (and moving on Friday and other craziness) I won't be posting much if at all until we settle in our new digs. Edie's sick and Craig's suseptible and I can't spell these days.

Please keep checking in on me. I have lots to share just no time right now!

My Mommy 'n Me

Img_3937

Can you guess what lies sleeping behind these doors?

Img_3939

Tonnes and tonnes of fabric. That's what!

There's more too under the Frankie Says Relax yellow/black plaid sheet!

Img_3951

There's even more in the closets stored in bins. Some already with my name on it.

Img_3955
I spent the evening with my mom in her sewing room doing some last minute milking of her wisdom before we move. She's helping me make a dress out of this wicked graffiti fabric I got a long time ago.

Img_3940

My mom's been sewing pretty steadily since I was Edie's age and has been doing it professionally now forever so she's got a few tricks and short cuts up her sleeve to share.

Img_3935

Her space includes lots of machinery and more fabric than even she can ever whip up in this lifetime (her maiden name is Gonzales for a reason - she's speedy).  Doesn't help that she can't resist a good fabric sale. At least I have dibs on the sewing stuff if, God forbid, anything should happen to her. Plus, it's so nice just to chill out with her and be the kid for a little bit.

Img_3962 .

PS Take a good long look at the mullet cuz it's going bye, bye as of today at noon. It's done! Time to move on, LITB (Long In The Back). I might keep a baby foot's-fist-full on the side because Edie likes to run her toes through it while she nurses to sleep. My Monkey!

My Cousin Ceci's Wedding

My cousin Cecilia got married yesterday. She's my closest cousin and who I stay with whenever I visit family in Peru. Her mom's my Tia Tita who's my favourite Auntie and, according to her, I'm her numero uno Niece - not to brag or anything.

Anyway, she got sponsered to live in Dallas a couple of years of go and since found love and got married in Vegas yesterday. We were all invited to witness via Live Internet Broadcast. I rushed to get online in time but with much grief this was all I was able to view:

Img_3921

Very frustrating. Luckily, the chapel graciously sells the download for one time view for only $10! What a scam. But the important thing here is love. Congratulations Cousin Ceci and Richard! Muchos besos.

What is it about weddings that conjures up an urge for a Mommy n Me photo shot?

Inspired by America's Next Top Model and a little bit of Zoolander, me and Edie have been brushing up on our pose-off skills:

Yes, Yes Shawl

Img_3934

Talk (again) about universal conciousness. I've had this purple Fleece Artist mohair forever and was so indecisive as to what to make with it and finally worked up the courage to attempt my own "design". Quote use due to my winging it more than anything else. I did begin very methodically doing some double digit grade level math, trying to get all creative with some "lace" work and then was getting car sick and just started letting the shawl talk to me. That's why I call it the Yes, Yes Shawl as in A. "Yes, Yes, Shawl. We don't Stop" - ala Beastie Boys or B. "Yes, yes, Shawl. Whatever you say, Shawl. I'm not asking any more mathmatical questions".

It's taking me a long time. I began it on the car ride to the Soltice Wedding  naively believing I would complete it just as we pull up ala my brother's wedding. Then wearing a just complete FO and obnoxiously talking about it with a drunken slur all night would be my "thing" at weddings. But, this is taking me a lot longer than planned. Probably because I'm still trying to finish Edie's crochet Bella Baby Dress before summer's done like dinner.

Anyhow, I was guided to the latest Magknits and guess what. THis! The Summer Shawlette is the Yes, Yes Shawl almost exactly (the frills, the airiness, the scrumptionsness) except a much more sophisticated version. Damn you, Universe, and your creepy wise ways!

Little on the bright side, no? Wait till you see the rest of the house - especially the bedroom (ouch). Craig's just finishing up the painting/cleaning up the house for our move in less than two weeks (gulp). He called me yesterday to inform me there was a teen-age grizzly bear meandering through our front yard (yikes). We have to keep the munchkin close to us out there that's for sure.

Craig sent home a progress report that my creative nook is looking mighty fine all dressed up in a Britney Spear's bubble gum pink. I think the paint fumes are somehow and finally getting to the both of us.
